The Municipality of Brighton wanted more than a conventional road map to support tourism. They were looking for something practical and easy to use, but also distinctive enough to reflect Brighton’s character and encourage visitors to explore beyond the obvious destinations.
The result is a custom illustrated Z-Card: a pocket-sized fold-out with a pictorial map on one side and nine tourism panels on the other. I redrew and simplified the road network in Illustrator, adjusting geography where needed to make the map clearer and easier to navigate. I also created a custom handwritten font for the map labels and designed 23 original wayfinding icons, giving the entire piece a consistent visual language that feels distinctly Brighton.
